Get Active Festival 2013 - for Chichester District Council which was developed in 2005 as an Olympic Legacy event
Date: Sunday 8th September
Time: 12pm-4pm
Venue: Oaklands Park
Event background:
The Get Active Festival is a large scale flagship event for Chichester District Council which was developed in 2005 as an Olympic Legacy event.
The day involves over 20 different sports clubs from the local community offering free sports taster sessions for the whole family (rifle shooting, orienteering, hockey, cricket, rugby, tennis, boxing, martial arts and pole dancing to mention a few activities) The whole family are encouraged to take part as we are trying to drive up participation across all age groups.
The day also features our Wellbeing Team whom offer Mini Health Checks, a play “village” for young children, a Green Zone, a Paralympic Sports Zone, an Emergency Services zone, fun inflatables, and a mobile climbing wall.
The whole day is FREE! Local arts groups will also be involved in the day to help celebrate the Cultural Olympiad. With regards media involvement in the day, the Spirit FM road show will be in attendance and the Chichester Observer will be actively promoting the event.
Following the success of London 2012, the Get Active Festival provides us with the perfect tool to engage with all of those enthused to try a new sport or activity and encourage them to make positive steps towards joining a club and leading a healthier lifestyle.
