Astra Beck Aerial hoops and Silks tuition
Next class December 11th 2011 at Taylors Retreat Dorking
Astra has been working with Pole Passion and in the circus entertainment industry for the last ten years as an aerialist and circus performer. Specializing in aerial hoop and silks but also skilled at static trapeze, doubles trapeze, rope and cloudswing. She is now keen to pass on her knowledge of the aerial arts to anyone who is interested in learning. She is also a qualified yoga teacher and has discovered a love of teaching during recent years through teaching pole dancing for fun, fitness and confidence.
Due to the success of the sessions Astra will be teaching another 2 hour mixed ability workshop in hoop and silks. These sessions are suitable for complete beginners wanting to try these skills out, for those who have got the aerial bug and want more and also for those old timers who just can’t get enough of it! No previous experience is necessary but I would advise any newcomers that the ability to do an unassisted pull up or an inversion is a requirement as this is an aerial class and we will be needing some basic upper body strength in order to climb and use the equipment.
Hoop and silks are classic pieces of circus aerial equipment. During the session we will learn how to use the equipment safely, a basic vocabulary of moves and positions, along with technique and conditioning exercises, as many tricks as we can fit in and for the more advanced students we will be working on short sequences of moves.
Please wear comfortable training clothing that covers the legs such as leggings, tracksuits, catsuits etc. We will be working in bare feet. Some people find it useful to bring training gloves for doing hoop as they find that their hands become sore.
Benefits: You will develop core strength, particularly in the upper body and stomach regions, flexibility, agility, confidence and a new skill!
Please note that these sessions are challenging so come fully prepared to work hard!

Burlesque Instructor Training for Fitness

NEW Instructor training focusing on the ART of Burlesque by Burlesque Passion
Testimonial ~ January 2011 Burlesque Instructor participant
Participant New to Burlesque but has a back ground of Cabaret dance and shows
Zumba dance fitness professional and instructor
‘After having time to process the information on the course, I just wanted to say again a big thank you for the quality and content of the course delivered. I can honestly say even I'm walking taller now - If your instructors pass on a minimal percentage of what they learn on that course then both they and the people around them can consider themselves very lucky.
This course should be recommended to all mums once the kids are out of nappies - Empowering is an understatement. Thanks again Tina (and Jon my partner ;) )x
I have already sold out two introductory courses, and have a waiting list for Block courses to begin in March 2011. Been booked for the local WI!!!! on a private/closed workshop basis, asked to do a workshop in Selby and Bedfordshire –
I could not be happier being a bit closer to my cabaret roots (I know it’s not cabaret but actually I am preferring this side more, maybe it’s an age/confidence thing!).
Looking forward to seeing you again in March.'

World Pole Dance 2009 finalist ~ Jamaica
“As a former nurse and having been inspired by the famous White Stripes music video, with Kate Moss pole dancing, three years ago I decided take lessons in pole dance!”
Shortly after commencing her lessons in pole dance she was encouraged to enter an amateur competition. After this experience she really became hooked on pole dancing and as her strength and confidence grew she begun to commit many hours practicing, creating original moves and routines. She particularly enjoyed the artistic creativity and acrobatic element of pole dancing, and has always attempted to do the more demanding pole tricks!
In 2006 entering Miss Pole Dance UK 2006, her first main professional competition, was the highlight and perhaps the turning point of her pole dance career. She enjoys participating for charity events and was guest performer for breast cancer awareness night run by Pole Passion in 2007.
Other work Tracey has been most proud of:
May 2007. Auditioning for Madonna! in her film she
directed “Filth and Wisdom”, playing the part of the ‘club pro’ in a pole
dancing club.
March 2008. I was also chosen to do a photo shoot for Diesel, for an advertising Campaign, whereby I had to pole dance on a London tube train!
Alongside pole dancing she has trained to become an instructor of pole dance and fitness.
Most recently she has been dancing abroad in San Juan, Puerto Rico and enjoys spending time in different countries, and travelling the world, pole dancing and performing.
Tracey has been selected and invited to represent the UK in the World Pole Dance Championships in Jamaica April 2009 and is actively seeking sponsorship to enable her to attend.
