Lisette Krol & Terri Walsh have been working and performing together for almost 3 years in the arts of Pole, Acrobalance, Aerial Hoop, Fire Acts and Dance.
They both have their own studios - Terri has Fierce Fitness Dance Studio and Lisette has Tribe Fitness Dance Studios. (Sister Studios)
They said before the competition that they were so excited to compete in the World Pole Dance Championships 2014 and hope very much that everyone enjoys their show – I think we can vouch for that they did

Pole Passion, West Sussex, Pole Fitness Company, hosted the World Pole Dance championships at the Hawth Theatre of arts on 1st February and the female preliminary round on 31st January at Taylors Pole Retreat in Dorking.
Over 50 men and women competitors and 10 professional international pole fitness and dance judges descended on Crawley, West Sussex over the Friday and Saturday of last week from countries as far as China, New Zealand, Belarus, Cyprus, Brazil, Japan, all of Europe, Ireland, Russia and Ukraine.
Joining the contestants, many respected and previous world champion winners;- Alesia Vazmitsel – Belarus, World females champion  of 2011 and males World Champion, Keem Martinez, World champion 2012, represented the professional judging panel.

The closed, semi finals for the females, the most attended and popular category, was hosted on Friday 31st at a luxurious pole studio with 2 x 3.8metre tall poles in a converted and bespoke barn -Taylor's Pole Studio, offering aerial skills and pole dancing opportunities and the competition venue for the annual National Miss Pole Dance UK Amateur and Semi pro championships, which was established in 2005 by Pole Passion
From the 26 female contestants, who travelled the length of the world, battled and flexed it out for the 14 finalist positions held on Saturday 1st at the Hawth Theatre.

Each contestant for the finals, from the three categories Men's (7 competitors), synchronised doubles (6 pairs) and females (14 competitors) had to compete a demanding series of pole tricks, spins, poses transitions between 5-6minutes on two stainless steel poles, one static and one spinning, both creating different dynamics and techniques on and around the pole.

The areas of judging that was taken into consideration for each contestant consisted of maximum 10 marks in their presentation of their routine, including costumes and props enhancing their performance element and storytelling, many contestants bringing in their ancient art and countries history to their presentations, the dance and fitness performance section consisted of 10 marks per judge which includes their variety of choreography music interpretation control and demonstration of strength and power, elegance and grace, throughout their gruelling  routine also including the use of both poles, creating height and depth to their dance and acrobatic performances and finally the tricks section awarding 15 marks per judge, demonstrating the tricks and combination of tricks including fluidity and effortless transitions to their performance  including, but not limited to, floor work, acro balance and circus skills

Ambassadors of Pole Award
Additional Award – also created for the pole fitness and dance industry. The first time in History ‘Ambassadors to Pole Award,’ whereby contributors to the health and safety and development of professional Pole throughout the world are awarded and officially recognised by their piers and the World Pole Dance Organisation.
More information is expected to be released in the fourth coming months, as the head of China Pole Dance championships, Mr Fing Yung Biao, a qualified Lawyer who now dedicates his time in supporting and professionalising the sport and the national competition in China, has shown considerable attention to our championships for the last three years and is posing a serious bid to host the next World Pole Dance Championships in Taishun, a town half an hour away from Beijing.
Mr Yung Biao has been studying English to prove better communications between Pole Passion and the head of World Pole Dance and originator Kay Penney, to make this a reality in 2015.

Founder of Miss Pole Dance UK, and Pole Passion, Kay Penney interviews Jess Leanne Norris – with only 12 weeks to go before the finals of Miss Pole Dance UK 2011 Annual National championships - one of the youngest contestants that has entered Miss Pole Dance UK professional category, Leanne who just turned 18 in April 2011

Jess started to Pole Dance at the very early age of 15, encouraged by her Grand Dad!! Aged 60.

Jess has worked very hard and mentions this is her first competition. Over the years she has taught thousands of ladies and many men and has now a successful pole dance and fitness studio in Bolton.
Jess’s story is inspirational to all women, young and old and we are delighted that this year she is joining the amazing and professional line up we will have for all the pole fans across the globe.
She is passionate about helping people and has a huge heart in supporting and transforming people’s lives

This year’s championships was back in Brighton on June 25th 2011, where 9 of the best UK competitors transcend to Brighton at Concorde2 to battle it out to wear the ultimate crown and represent the UK in the World Pole Dance Championships in Budapest where they will be dancing next to the world’s greatest pole performers and tricksters

Why are you considering entering Miss Pole Dance UK professional category this year?
This competition was just a dream of mine when I first started to pole. To be given the opportunity to perform at MPD where some of the world’s greats have competed really is a dream come true.

How long have you been training for Mpd??
I could say since the day I stared 3 years ago :D

What has been your biggest achievement to date in the pole world?
Opening JLN has been a huge achievement for me; I have been given the opportunity to inspire thousands of people to take up pole which has been the best journey of my life!

What do you hope to get from the championships this year?
The satisfaction of performing on the MPD stage will be immense!

Hopefully life will be as exciting as it is at the moment, that will be enough.

When I first started pole it was to get fit and have fun, which I did, although I did find ‘myself’ when I started to perform. Listening to the music and dancing around the pole is like magic, I’m in a world of my own and it truly is the best place to be. Pole has given me strength from within not just physically and I’m on top of the world! Everyone should try it xx

Foreword
On a pole, a dancer can defy the gravity with physical power, gracefully. As she spins 360 degrees, all the audience near and far off the stage, can watch her beautiful postures, poses and artistic and captivating routine. Pole Dancing is a mesmerising sport, fitness and dancing style.
In 2005, the year the first official World Pole Dance championship was held in on Friday November 11th where Reiko Suemune from Japan took the championship title.

Who expected it would become this popular?
Since 2005, so many great pole dancers have emerged all over the world. They started teaching, providing every person the some opportunity to learn pole dancing casually. It didn’t take very long for this sport to become main stream, now there are various organisations, communities, and competitions world wide.
It’s no more a dream for pole dancers to “seize a chance.”

It still is open to dispute that how we should score pole dancing at competition level; Should we just evaluate the incredible strength and flexibility? Or emphasise the artistic aspects, or even estimate the accuracy of each trick?
Each competition has its own answer and by working closely together worldwide we share our wealth of experience, knowledge and passion and create something BIG and amazing supporting each and every competitor, taking different cultural and ethical balances into consideration. I think the multiplicity we see today is the proof of the Pole dancing industry’s progress and positive achievements.

Pole dancing has unlimited potential.

How the future of this sport, fitness and art form would be, is up to each dancer’s performances and behaviours. The winner of the competition will have to bear the gravest responsibility under the name of “Miss Pole Dance Japan Champion”. It will be hard and challenging to be that champion, but the title would surely take that individual to the higher place. They will have the opportunity to see a new world.

We are waiting for a lady who can work together with us, to continue to professionally promote the mesmerism of our sport and the unlimited possibilities of pole dancing not only in Japan, but also to all over the world.
