Why do I need insurance to teach Burlesque Dance - www.burlesque-fitness.com

Why do I need  insurance to teach Burlesque Dance?

As an instructor, whether part or full time,  you take on certain responsibilities and one of them is a Duty of Care to that of your students, fellow instructors and that of yourself.

Someone in one of your classes may injure themselves and bring a claim for compensation against you.

During a class a pupil damages equipment at a venue you are using.

A specific action you teach may be brought into question should a client suffer an injury resulting from your advice or instruction.

You may suffer injury during a session which means you can’t work (and earn) for a period of time.

You may injure yourself during a session and require physio treatment.

Your equipment needed to teach may get damaged lost or stolen.

We can support you for Burlesque Fit, Pole fitness, Pole dancing, and more

FAQ

I just teach in my spare time do I need insurance?

It is an unfortunate fact of life that accidents happen. And in some cases the injured party may wish to pursue a claim for compensation. Although you may not be specifically at fault you could be liable to pay costly legal fees and damages. In fact you may find that some organisations (schools and colleges particularly) insist that you have relevant qualifications, security checks and insurance cover before being allowed to train

Do you cover Burlesque Fitness and my other aerobics sessions at the same time?
We have worked hard with our partners to ensure that the most popular participation sports and classes in the UK are covered under our scheme such as Aerobics, Boxercise, Spinning and Zumba, alongside some of your most popular activities like Burlesque fitness and Pole Fitness !

As I have a spare room at home, can I teach from home or a park / beach or public area?
Yes, if your home has passed the relevant health and safety checks and is suitable for the exercises you are teaching. If you want to take classes in your garden, providing you have enough space and you have completed the relevant paperwork each time, this would be acceptable. To instruct in an outside area e.g. a park, you are required to carry out certain procedures.

Ian Matthews Runner up Mr Pole Fitness UK 2013

Ian Matthews Congratulations again for coming Second in the Mr Pole Fitness UK 2013 Male Championships Competition, you should be very proud of yourself, I know we are.  We would greatly appreciate your feed back on how you are feeling about your achievement so we can let the rest of the pole community know.

· How does it feel to be runner up in the Mr Pole Fitness Champions UK 2013?

I'm ecstatic to have placed 2nd in MPF 2013! Congrats to all the placed winners!
I'm very fond of this particular competition and the amazing team in Pole Passion that run this fab event, so it was an absolute pleasure to be competing on that stage once again!

· Did you go in it to win it?
I hadn't competed since last year’s event, and the level of ability in male competitors in the UK has sky rocketed in recent times!  So I went in just wanting to be happy overall with my performance which I was! And hopefully it made my supporters proud!

· Are you classically dance trained?
I originally came a dance background in street dance for over 10 years. One of the many things that pole has done for me since I started, is now I embrace many more dance styles and love how they can interact in this art!

· How long have you been Pole Dancing for?
For about 41/2 years now.

· What made you get into it?
I helped choreograph and co-perform a dance routine for someone who was  performing at a pole competition. It was the first pole competition I had ever seen and after being blown away by what I was seeing from these talented competitors on the vertical bar, I was inspired to begin myself, and add my own elements of dance style to it! I haven't looked back since!

· Has this competition given you a hunger to compete in more competitions?
I'm glad, but also sorry to say that MPF 2013 was my last competitive performance!
I have competed in a fair few competitions since starting and I feel the time is now right for me to focus completely on instruction for my students and my Master class held throughout the UK. I want to pass on my knowledge and experience on to them and any up and coming pole competitors!

· What advice would you give to anyone who has never competed before?
If you want to take your pole training to a high level, then I would say it is definitely something to experience at least once. It's good to have something to work towards!  For a performance, my advice would be to focus on a theme and music piece that you can connect to emotionally and that has personal meaning to you. Then you will find that emotion will be portrayed on the stage. Lastly, make sure you are doing it for 'YOU' and for your growth as a performer, not just because you just want a title.

· Do you have a Pole Idol?
I don't have any specific pole idols really! I have met and have so much respect for many pole artist's from all over the world and I love to see the many styles that are performed now!

· Were you nervous on the day of the competition?
Personally, I find that my previous experience with performing on stage in my dance career has taught me to not let nerves get the better of me. I suppose I've learnt to focus the nervous tension!
I know how hard it is in the beginning of a performing career and getting up on a big stage is scary!, but in time, a regular performer will gain that focus.

Crawley Councillor Chris Mullins misrepresents Miss Pole Dance UK National championships At Hawth Theatre

http://duncancrow.blogspot.co.uk/2013/09/press-release-on-labours-chris-mullins.html -

Local Crawley councillor Chris Mullins has misrepresented Miss Pole Dance UK National  championships.
An outrageous disgrace to liken Miss Pole Dance National, athletes as naked topless dancers.

This is far from the truth and has been since 2005 when Miss Pole Dance was created by founder of Pole Passion Kay Penney, mum of three.
'I have three children and have been living in Crawley for over 25 years and not only do I feel embarrassed, humiliated and outraged to his incorrect and misleading comments, i'm still waiting for a public apology from him.'

Kay has been pioneering Pole Dance for fitness since 2008 and took up the sport after having her third child in a quest to find an empowering dance and fitness course to help tone and keep in shape.  Kay who enjoyed all sorts of team and individual sports and fitness crazes all through her life, to include cricket, football, tennis, hockey, martial arts to name but a few, then went on to write three REP's  (Register Of Exercise Professionals) accredited and skills active endorsed international training programmes and courses to support like minded fitness experts in the skill of teaching pole dance for fitness and empowerment to both men and females.
The courses are organised by Kay's company Pole Passion Ltd and use Nuffield Health and Wellbeing in Crawley as their centre of excellence working off RPoles that have been specifically designed for the gyms and the students. www.r-polefitness.com

'We have worked tirelessly, over the last 10 years to remove the sleazy imagery, so as you can imagine when we receive comments of such misdemeanour's it makes me and my colleagues sad.  I think until you have experienced a lesson and met the instructors and fellow students its inappropriate to talk in such a way.'

To gym members to gym CEO’s who don’t quite appreciate or ‘get’ what pole fitness and pole dance is all about

As leaders and pioneers in the Pole fitness Industry we are proud to organise and operate a teacher training apprentice scheme

Why do we have a pole instructor apprentice scheme?

The skills required to be the best pole instructor don't happen overnight for the majority, so we at Pole Passion are dedicated to share our wealth of national and international knowledge to those also passionate about supporting people in the pole fitness industry. Already coupled with our comprehensive REP’s Accredited, international teacher training programmes and exam and assessments we now have had in operation our apprentice scheme for over three years.

The reason why the apprentice scheme was set up by Kay Penney, the founder  and CEO of Pole Passion, was to support and educate the challenges that each instructor would face, socially and morally and it's a way of passing on this knowledge to make each person become the best they can be.
The scheme is predominately about providing opportunity for all and offering practical experiences in the class environment.  It’s about education and offering elite and professional training and support for free!

Who can apply?

We at Pole Passion, as founders of pole techniques feel we have an obligation to the industry as a whole. We only want the best to be leading pole techniques, focusing not only each participant who enters the world of pole, but equally on the health and safety elements, as paramount to those students and potential students we are introduced too, around the world.

Unfortunately there are, luckily, only a few, who aren't representing pole as we would like, so our scheme, which is available to all, is now running out as a national programme, with a view to running it internationally soon.

How does it work?

We have very simple guidelines and rules all accompanied by the Code of Pole Practice also written by Kay Penney of Pole Passion in 2008
We will issue you a training manual, uniform and set of guidelines and an instructor who, weekly will work closely with you, supporting your strengths and weaknesses.
You will be working towards the REP’s accredited teacher training two and a half day courses offering hands on experience and training every other week to the classes.

How much will it cost me?

This scheme is FREE to the right person – you will need to show commitment in your time and ability but your comprehensive training manual and uniform are given to you for free

How do I find out more?

If you would like to be considered as a Pole Passion trainer and or a Pole Passion teacher trainer apprentice and have been attending the Pole Passion pole classes for more than 12 consecutive weeks, then please contact us
