Is a question we are asked frequently and one
that must be explored professionally and may be easier to approach
and consider this question from the stand point that you are in a court of law,
under oath and being subject to a legal claim for injury to another person
(regardless how caused).
What credible documented
defence would you be able to offer?
We appreciate it’s a bit harsh!
but this is the reality today with
lawyers (no fee no win) advertising for
cases to pursue, so in short, your only defence would be an accreditation or
qualification in what you were teaching.
Furthermore; European Law
states that you must have a Duty of Care.
A Duty of Care is a legal
obligation imposed on an individual, requiring that they adhere to a standard
of reasonable care while performing any acts that could harm others.
Breaching such a duty may
subject an individual to liability.
We must point out we are not
lawyers and not able to offer advice beyond our understanding of safety
standards.
