Important Pole Fitness Instructor safety announcement

Pole Fitness Safety announcement from Pole Passion - ATTENTION ALL INSTRUCTORS .... In Europe we have a 'Duty of Care' under The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, regardless what the business is, and while it’s agreed some instructor certificates are just that, it’s vital that the training experience is to offer a safe environment for both instructors and students and it is what we impart on our students and trainee instructors. Our Government Approved Accreditation Certificates are based on an education, not a desire to churn out instructors because they look good or so they can place a piece of paper on their walls!

Compliance with the 'Duty of Care' is a serious business that will see the HSE (Health & Safety Executive) seeking very large fines and possibly imprisonment through negligence. Under the 'Duty of Care,' ignorance is not considered an excuse and will not be considered in a UK or European Court of Law. Our training and certifications go beyond rhetoric and gets under the skin of what makes an exceptional pole instructor, a safe pole instructor, and this extends as much as to what goes on the pole as to what goes on off the pole, with Risk Assessments, creating and organising a safe and fun syllabus to understanding the risks of putting up poles safely; in particular to Asbestos Awareness for those poles that connect to the ceilings, which is a hidden and invisible danger that many have never considered and may seem blissfully ignorant of, but is none-the-less a real threat to life as much as falling or slipping off a pole without a safety mat !!

visit www.r-polefitness.com for poles that comply to British and European Safety standards for free standing fitness equipment

We believe an elite teacher invests and encourages their students to be better than the teacher and laying a safe & ethical foundation is crucial to this success, world wide.

With our very nature of teachings we have pushed beyond the normal, we are all innovators and together with sharing our professionalisms we will change public perceptions and continue in our success to educate.

Miss Pole Fitness UK - winner 2010 Beatrice Morgan

Beatrice Morgan - Centre right seen here with Kay Penney, founder of Miss Pole Dance UK
Miss Pole Fitness Amateur UK - champion
Interview

Hello Beatrice how does it feel to win Miss Pole Fitness Amateur UK?

I'm still in shock! I never thought I'd win. But it feels great; it's something to show for all the hours put in!

Did you go in it to win it?
Not at all, a friend of mine found out about the competition and suggested we enter so a few of us did to see what it was like. I thought it'd be a learning experience and a way of boosting my confidence, plus I like a challenge.

Are you classically dance trained? As your routine was very graceful and balletic.

I used to dance, up until I was about 15. I did Ballet, Tap, Modern and Jazz. Although I've stopped I still love Ballet, and that's why I decided to put that into my routine.

How long have you been Pole Dancing for?

Just coming up to a year now.

What made you get into it?

A couple of friends and I were at our University's freshers fair and we saw the Pole Fitness society. We thought it would be just quite fun to join, but we ended up getting really into it very quickly, and loved every second (including the bruises!) and I'm now Vice President of Kent Pole Fitness.

Has this competition given you a hunger to compete in more competitions?

Potentially. I'm not a very confident person, before the competition I hadn't shown my routine to anyone as I was too nervous. But making it through it, let alone winning, has given me a drive. Plus I had such an amazing time doing it.

What advice would you give to anyone who has never competed before?

Just go for it. That's what I did. Through yourself into the deep end as it may well be just as rewarding as what happened to me.

Do you have a Pole Idol?

I love Jenyne Butterfly. She's so graceful and strong.

Were you nervous on the day of the competition?

Absolutely! I don't think I've ever been more nervous in my life!

Finally will come to compete in Miss Pole Dance Semi Pro next year?

I'd love to, but watching this year showed me just how amazing those girls are. So i’ll best get practicing!

Thank you Beatrice!

Jass Foley Photos in the Swiss Alps

Pole exploring the Swiss Alps

Dates in Zurich: 29th September to 5th October 2010

Dates available to shoot: 30th September to 4th October 2010

What: Exploring the Alps and the area around Zurich with the light weight and portable R pole www.r-polefitness.com a crew, and a whole load of camera equipment. Shoots will last about 4 hours. The aim is to create spectacular images with the portable pole and the very best performers in the world. We will aim to shoot either at sunrise, at sunset, or at night.
What you will get: 6 images. These will be given as a full resolution digital copy which you will have permission to use in any way you wish to promote yourself- facebook, twitter, youtube, newspaper, magazine, personal website etc.
What it costs: €500.
Travel: Travel will be included, but if you have a car there travel cost can be included.

Who to contact: Jass Foley, Photographer: info@jassfoley.com,
00353 (0)861687194.

Full details are available at www.jassfoley.com/zurich

Jass Foley, photographer and director of photographer, will be in Zurich from September 28th to October 5th 2010 for the World Pole Sport & Fitness Championships. With a background in advertising, commercial and fashion photography, the Alps provide an alluring challenge to image creation for Jass. Having dived into photographing Pole Sport, this is an opportunity to take the amazing talent of these athletes into the equally spectacular Alps. Below is a short video showing some previous shoots and some pole images.

"The aim of this is creating spectacular images. It is an opportunity to have promotional and advertising images for pole instructors and performers from a truly unique setting. I'm doing this for sheer love of the creative process and my desire to push the boundaries of what can be done photographically. Head into the mountains with a portable pole? Sounds like a challenge to me!” For a very modest €500 (roughly £410 or $635), have a portfolio of 6 images created at one of these location shoots to use as your own promo and advertising material.

“I'm from an advertising background, where images are strictly licensed and controlled. This is not the case here. This is a passion project. You can use the images in any way you want. Put them on Facebook, your website, newspapers, magazines etc. Within reason of course- if the image will be projected on the surface of the moon, I might want an extra few Euro.”

As for the logistics of it all, I will be driving with my crew from Ireland. We will be arriving in Switzerland late on Tuesday 28th of September. We will be scouting locations on Wednesday 29th of September. We will be leaving Zurich on Tuesday October 5th. Depending on demand, we will arrange as many shoots as possible. This is a rather individual process that needs to be discussed with each person to create images that are unique to you. Locations ideas are Interlaken, the Stelvio Pass (just across the Italian border) and of course Lake Zurich and the surrounding hills. Translators and transport will be arranged by me as needed, but if you have a car with you, all the better.

I will also have Richard Geraghty, an award-winning director, with me recording behind the scenes video.
The beauty of this project is that it is not set in stone. As you can see from the video below, my shoots are fun and free flowing (but are actually meticulously planned in pre-production). We want ideas and inspiration. We want to hear from you!

If you are interested in joining Jass and you are a proficient poler please get in touch to discuss and organise.

~
I have just taught my first ever pole fitness class and it was great! I had 3 poles and 3 girls to a pole and I don't know who was more excited, me or them! We all had so much fun and when I assessed my performance as a teacher I think I did pretty well. The feedback was fantastic and the girls seem to be hooked! I have a second class with different girls tomorrow and am so looking forward to it!
I could feel Kay over my shoulder at times [don't turn your back on the girls!] and was surprised at my confidence. Thank you Pole Passion. Who would have thought that a year ago, after losing my Mum, that this middle aged woman would come so far on an emotional journey and find herself in such a place? Her own pole studio! I love it! Thank you so much ... Best wishes from Angela.

Pole Passion Accredited Instructor sets New World Record

Pole Passion Accredited Pole Instructor, Alma Pirner from Hungary Sets a Pole Dancing World Record to Promote Workplace Gender Equality

If there was ever going to be a pole dancing world record set, you knew it would have to come from a trained professional. Former dancer and glamour model and the first Pole Passion Accredited Instructor from Hungary, Alma Pirner who qualified in 2008 as a Pole Fitness Instructor along with several other pole artistes got together at the Dollhouse dance studio in Hungary to pole for 24 hours.

Alma set a solo record for eight hours of consecutive movements, tricks and transitions around the pole. When asked why she did this, Alma said that it was to prove that women are just as physically and mentally capable as men, and deserve to be treated equally in the workplace

Pole Dancing in the UK - Pole Passion

Explore the different ways of learning pole techniques

Group pole fitness and dance classes are one of the most popular ways to learn and they are popping up all around the world. The length of the lesson may vary between one and two hours but be mindful of the content and how many poles and students in the group. The cost maybe respective of content and students attending. The REP’s (register of exercise professionals) accredited instructor training courses recommend no more than 4 participants to one pole equipment at beginner/intermediate level and at advanced level no more than 2 per pole equipment in group sessions. If you choose this route, be sure to check the instructors qualifications, fitness, dance or otherwise and pole teaching experience before you enrol. Make sure the instructor has extensive TRAINING experience AND qualifications, as injuries are more likely to happen with a non qualified instructor who has limited teaching experience! Group sessions are more sociable and you may learn more in smaller group scenarios rather than a 1-2-1.

Private 1-2-1 pole lessons can be a great option for some ladies. If you are more shy or uncomfortable in groups for example, a private lesson or two might just be the perfect solution for you to boost your self confidence and self esteem first before embarking on a group session with strangers. You can find studios and individual instructors who are willing to instruct privately, however the down side is that they will be considerably more expensive. Expect to cover more in the lesson therefore making the lesson more intense, which could be a negative or positive. Private sessions are great as they can be bespoke to you personally

Call 0871 318 3838 for more information or visit www.polepassion.com

Master Classes & workshops Usually a highly experienced performer and or instructor is available to inspire and pass on their unique style and techniques. These sessions are great at all levels of learning, but do check at what level the session is geared at – you do not want to leave the session demotivated as it may be too difficult for your specific level. These are usually group sessions of instruction usually over a day or many continual hours and can be very intensive. These sessions are great if you are unable to attend regular weekly sessions or you have to travel a distance to receive instruction.

Proud to host national and international trainers - Pantera USA, Felix Australia, Alesia UK, Maxine UK, Rachel Excell Dunkley UK, Deb Riley UK, Astra UK (Silks & Trapeze), Jenyne USA, Amy Richardson-Impey New Zealand, Elena Shishkova Russia, Alma Pinar Hungry, Sabrina Germany, Reiko Japan, Tammy Morris Canada, Jeanine Germany, Tracey Simmonds UK

Pole dance & fitness DVDs are another way to learn. These may compliment your group or individual sessions at home (assuming you have a pole at home of course) or can be used as your main method of learning. You of course do not receive personal motivation specific to your individual needs but great as you can rewind and view over and over again
Pole dancing books, manuals and magazines these at the moment are far and few between. We recommend Pole2Pole Magazine and Pole Dance International Magazine. They are a great resource of information written by people who have first hand experience with teaching and learning pole techniques.

Online pole dancing lessons is another way to learn and can be found on various websites. YouTube videos are also another method of watching moves and tricks however please be aware this may have a negative effect on your learning you may well be learning potential bad habits which over time may cause serious injury! There are however many good instructional clips and the routines of competitions are great inspirations.
Visiting & entering competitions not only a great place to network but also watching the best of the best focusing on routines and the dance of course. Perhaps inspiring others who have not yet embarked on a pole lesson. These professionals make it look effortless and certainly you will leave inspired and in awe of this beautiful art.

Accredited Pole Instructor training Qualifications and certifications are now available in the UK – be aware that you look for ones that have been independently approved by fitness associations, ones that hold a code of pole practice too.

Russia meets UK in Jamaica for Accredited Pole Fitness Instructor Training

Russia Gains It’s First Accredited Pole Fitness Instructor

Elena Shishkova successfully completed her 3 day comprehensive instructor training course, On Thursday 4th March 2010

‘Pole Fitness history was in the making today – We are proud to announce that Elena Shishkova from Russia is the first ever Accredited Pole Fitness Instructor in her country, having successfully completed her comprehensive three day International Pole Instructor course & assessments – Our congratulations go out to her,’ comments Kay Penney, owner of Pole Passion Ltd, UK course developer and instructor.

Whilst Elena is an experienced and competent instructor and a talented athlete already in her country, specialising in regular Master classes, group and 1-2-1 instruction she signed up on to the course to gain credibility and independently, approved fitness accreditation which is not yet available in her country. Due to visa restrictions unfortunately Elena was denied entry into to UK earlier this year for the popular courses already attended by other UK national and international fitness students. Therefore Kay made provisions for international students to attend in their recent pole week in Jamaica where master classes, pole and fitness lessons accompanied the course and offered all week.

Elena is currently representing Russia in The World Pole Sport & Fitness, Pole Dance championships in 2009 & 2010 on October 2010 in Zurich. www.worldpoledance.com

Elena has also plans to support the worlds first, free standing, pole fitness product called the R-pole to support her lessons and master classes www.r-polefitness.com

Itac2 Pole Dance Sports Grip

Pole Dancing for empowering confidence, sport, fun & fitness

Itac2 Pole sports grip

Did you know that pole dancing is now a recognised and certified athletic sport and fitness activity and it’s growing at a phenomenal rate around the world?

Pole Passion one of the UK's leading and most established Pole Dance schools and brings to you a grip product specifically designed for pole tricks and fitness -

Pole dancing is now a recognised sport within the categories of Gymnastics, Acrobatics and a Dance sport.

It’s a non-contact, predominately female activity, requiring strength, agility and flexibility. It started years ago as a male dominated sport involving climbing large tree type structures and forming acrobatic feats whilst balanced on the top and sides of these structures. One or many men could be on this structure at a time.

Hands and feet and inner thighs were used as grip. Today the poles are metallic as opposed to wood, thin as opposed to thick, and they are smooth and solid. The only downside is they are not entirely porous so gripping can be difficult if u are prone to sweat.

Despite this, Pole dancing is becoming more and more popular year after year with Championships being held in most Countries around the world. – check out our Miss Pole Dance UK event that we organise.

www.misspoledance-uk.com and www.worldpoledance.com

It is recognised as a serious sport and attracts many competitors as well as spectators, not to mention massive media interest.

Itac2 grip is also recommended for golf, tennis, basketball, squash, badminton, sport shooting so don’t be shy you can order from us too 
