Pole Fitness and Pole Dancing can help people suffering from Mental Health issues

UK Active and Leeds University have conducted a  study as to how exercise can give a positive benefit and increase the general well being of students who are less active.

Not only can pole help with flexibility, strengthening, and conditioning. It can have a huge impact on the general wellbeing of students suffering from mental health issues

Exercise increases the serotonin levels in the bloodstream therefore giving that feel good feeling, boosts your mood and overall sense of well-being. It can also improve your appetite and sleep cycles, which are often negatively affected by depression.

Regular classes also help balance your body's levels of stress hormones such as adrenaline.

ONLINE GRADING SYSTEM FOR POLE FITNESS AND POLE DANCERS 10 levels

The grading is a unique concept to pole fitness. Developed by Pole Passion in 2009 with the objective to support students and instructors in their development and first steps towards performing and competing.

We are proud to announce the Pole Passion Grading system to all our students (and instructors alike), incorporating the system throughout our national network of professional instructors and licensees and in all our weekly student training sessions, which will enable students to gain a certification of their achievements in a structured manner.

ASK your instructor for the grading moves and syllabus – Register through your instructor or the office (theteam @passion-fitness.com) pre registration is essential.

NB:  YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE A POLE PASSION INSTRUCTOR OR STUDENT TO REGISTER

JOIN OUR FACEBOOK GROUP - https://www.facebook.com/polegrades/

How to register

1. Simply ask your instructor in class, for a copy of the grading system level you are currently working on, starting at Level 1 and progressing to Level 6. Find out the moves that need to be incorporated into your routine grading performance.

2. Select your music – Please email it on mp3 mp4 only format to
email : theteam@passion-fitness. com no later than 7 days before the grading date.
Please speak with your instructor for guidance and it is important that you show your completed routine to your instructor BEFORE the day of the grading – PLEASE NOTE: Your routine must not contain a move or trick higher than your grading level.

3. Create your routine, either working with your instructor or creating your own (make sure the length of your routine (music) is the correct time for your grade (see below).

4. Payment – the grading cost is £30 per level, per participant and you will receive
Professional certificate for you to frame for your wall
Professional on line badge certificate, for your social media sites
Goodie bag, contents will vary from grading to grading
The grading is a place where students can show off their skills to family and friends without the fear of being judged in a professional fitness environment. For many of our students, level 1 is their first opportunity to showcase their practised skills of tricks, spins, transitions, poses and floor work combining them into a routine set to music of their choice.

Gradings take place 3 to 4 times per year.

Student Instructor Testimonial Crawley Pole Passion Worth - Melissa Fish

My name is Melissa Fish and I'm 27 years old.
I love to attend Pole Passion at Crawley Worth under my instructor Kay Penney

I work as an office administrator although I'm currently on maternity leave. I started pole as I was looking for a way to get fit and build strength and I was always terrible going to the gym. I love pole because not only does it keep me fit and build strength but it also gives me confidence that I'd lost over time.
After just giving birth I know it will build confidence I've lost while being pregnant.
You also meet some amazing people and build friendships with other students you cheer each other along when you get a move you've been working on.

A big positive I get out of pole is that not only are you keeping fit, you achieve something new each week and that also keeps me going. I was worried about doing it first as I thought I wouldn't be able to do it and that I'd be too weak for it but you work at your own pace and the instructors will always make sure you achieve your goals.

When I first told my family that I did pole I got mixed reactions, they called it pole dancing all the time but once you explain that you don't actually dance it's about fitness and strength etc they are more accepting of it and think it's amazing that I can do well at it and enjoy it.

Grading Certification
Students take the gradings for many different reasons for some it's a personal achievement, a platform to stand up and perform for the very first time in front of an audience. A chance to express themselves through music and dance.
For others it’s the first steps to a career in performing, a build up to the competition they’ve always wanted to enter but never thought they could, a chance to gain confidence, build flow, increase stamina and performance endurance.
A chance to get feedback to assist in improving their art every step of the way, eventually moving onto competitions.

Grading performances are certified and  students can achieve either a Pass or a Pass+ at each level.

FOUR WAYS FOR POLE INSTRUCTOR TRAINING COURSE SUCCESS www.polepassion.com

FOUR WAYS FOR POLE  INSTRUCTOR TRAINING COURSE SUCCESS

MANAGE YOUR TIME WISELY
Whether you have chosen to invest in a course you attend in person or whether you have opted for online home study package make sure you have allowed enough preparations and study time of the materials supplied
This of course will vary from person to person but by a guide allow minimum 16 hours study.  Of course your learning never stops but initially before the exam allow this time  minimum to prepare for your course.
Map out how many hours you can commit to your studies each week, and write on a calendar or journal what you actually plan to accomplish. Be realistic. And remember that you’re more likely to meet your goals if you write them down. Do not feel defeated if you are not able to study for hours on end. Whether you dedicate one to two hours, or 30 minutes daily to your studies, make the most of that time.

STUDYING THE CONTENT
Allow time to read and practice the moves for yourself
Then allow additional time in focusing on the words that you will be using whilst teaching
This for many this is the hardest part of transitioning from student to instructor status using the correct terminology including the muscle names correctly

USE YOUR RESOURCES
We all learn differently. Whether you are a visual, auditory or tactile/kinaesthetic learner, there is something for everyone. Recognize your personal learning style and use it to your advantage. This we cover on the courses too.  Use the social media YouTube and visual aids to learn to break down the moves and combinations paying particular attending to and feet body alignments and head positions in all the moves you seen – begin to break down the technicalities of the moves too

ASK FOR HELP
This is so important. No one knows everything, and we are all constantly learning in this relatively new concept of exercise, so please do not be afraid to ask for assistance. Trying to navigate through this experience can be daunting, especially if this is a new career for you. Remember that you have support throughout your course process, and even after you are a certified pole fitness professional. Our trainers assessors and course staff are dedicated to helping you achieve success, so make the most of our expertise and experience and we look forward to supporting you as long as you need us.

Pole Passion East Grinstead - congratulations

ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY !!  CONGRATULATIONS Karen at Pole Passion East Grinstead

Pole Passion East Grinstead headed by Pole Instructor Karen Davis, mum of two boys comments on below about her class

‘My class is a random mix of ladies. There are the Pole junkies who attend every lesson in search of a new fix; I have ladies in their 50’s that are great fun and love to laugh (at each other’s expense!) Then there’s the secret poler’s who’s pole life is a secret existence, another lady who just enjoys the pain,  (or slight discomfort we like to call it) a fresh faced 16 year old who wants to follow in her mums footsteps, those that want to compete and some that just want to tone up and shed a few pounds.
Our pole class has been running a year this March; I love my group of ladies. Not only have they all grown in ability, flexibility and strength but they have also grown as people. Pole has brought this wide variety of people together, if it hadn't of been for pole then their paths would not of crossed. I’ve personally found it interesting watching them develop as a group as one students strength is another students weakness.
Regardless of level and ability the amount of encouragement and support I see in class is what makes our class what it is.  So thank you to each and every student who has come along to Pole Passion East Grinstead in this past year, teaching you all has been such a pleasure!’

Karen continues to develop and grow in her skills and is excited about attending Master Training in the forth coming months
she is also a dedicated team player during our competitions  Miss Pole Dance UK amateur and semi pro

Pole Passion Bognor Pole Fitness Classes

Introducing Pole Passion Bognor

Susannah Thompson ~
Mother
Professional
Pole addict

Sue’s in the spot light this month as she is embarking in a part time job with Pole Passion
We asked questions to find out more about Sue!!

How long you have been Poling?
I've been poling for 18 months now and am completely addicted! I've never been particularly keen on exercise so I was surprised that I enjoyed this as much as I did. I now love it more than ever and haven't looked back since my first lesson! I have been apprenticing with an advanced instructor since January 2010 and during that time I've discovered that I love passing on my addiction to others and watching them develop and improve.

What made you get into it?
I didn't have a particularly healthy lifestyle and was advised by the doctor to try and gain some muscle to deal with some health issues. He suggested lifting weights in a gym but I've never been a fan of exercise so didn't think I'd be able to do that. Instead I decided to try Pole Fitness, as this involves supporting your body weight in various poses and spins, the end result being increased strength, better tone and flexibility. I love music, so it’s no chore to dance! It worked wonders for me and my health has improved dramatically as a result.

What is your favourite part about it?
The thing I love most about Pole is the way that everyone is good at different bits of it. You don't have to be super flexible or super strong because you can adapt the moves to work with what you have. Everyone has a move they get first time while the person next to them takes weeks to get it. Equally, everyone has a move that just persistently eludes them! There are enough 'quick wins' to keep you motivated and enough difficult moves to keep you challenged. Perfect combination!

Do you have any other hobbies?
I'm not a big fan of exercise and apart from Pilates I did very little before starting Pole. Now though, I also do silks, hoop and trapeze - Ariel skills which perfectly compliment my Pole training. I regularly attend master classes, competitions and workshops in Pole and Ariel skills to make sure that I have new ideas to bring to the students.

Sue currently teaches from Redhill Life Line fitness and is soon to start at
Arun Leisure Centre
Felpham Way
Bognor Regis
West Sussex

The R Pole brings Pole Dancing fitness to homes, health clubs, beaches, parks infact now any where...

The R POLE BRINGS POLE DANCING FITNESS TO HOMES AND HEALTH

CLUBS WORLDWIDE

Pole dancing has been stripped of its sleazy image and become a rapidly

expanding, popular choice of exercise for many women in recent years.

Now, worldwide fans of this fashionable way to keep fit and have fun

will be free to pop up a pole at home, at the health club, at the beach

or even in the pub, with the launch of the first, truly portable pole -

the R Pole (http://www.r-polefitness.com).

Designed by pioneering pole dance and fitness school, Pole Passion

(http://www.polepassion.com ), the patent pending fitness pole is

self-standing; it doesn't require a stage or tools and takes just

minutes to set up and take down. And being 50% lighter than its nearest

podium based rival, the R Pole sets a new standard in portability and

creates a new world of opportunities for pole fitness.

Stephen Penney, director of Pole Passion, says: "To be honest, my aim

was initially to make my own life simpler by inventing something that

users could easily put up themselves. But it's become an instant hit

with women who've had enough of paying for hardly used health club

memberships and are bored with the same old aerobic classes."

He continues: "We're finding that the home version of the R Pole

particularly appeals to women who are after more entertaining ways to

work out. With the R Pole they can practice in the privacy of their own

homes, or make pole-fitness part of their daily workout and even their

next girls' night out!"

Created with personal fitness in mind, the studio version of the R Pole

will also be a boon for professional pole dancing and fitness

instructors. The split pole design clips together in seconds, without

the need for butch spanners or step ladders, minimising set-up and

maximising teaching time. And being completely self-supporting, the R

Pole won't damage floors or ceilings with screws and fittings, making it

possible for professional studios to add more pole fitness to their

weekly timetable.

Kay Penney, a fitness professional for 18 years and creator (in 2008) of

the popular REP's accredited Pole Fitness Instructor training

qualifications, says: "At long last we have a portable, professional

pole fitness product we can use for teaching without the outdated

connotations of dancing on a portable stage. It's genuinely different to

anything currently on the market anywhere in the world right now."

Instructors and students don't have to worry that safety or stability

have suffered in pursuit of mobility: the R Pole has come through three

years of stringent design and testing in conjunction with the University

of Brighton. Its secure, wide base provides a natural exclusion zone and

is covered with a safety mat to protect student dancers if they get into

a spin.

Pole dancing fitness is a great, all round fun and fitness routine,

incorporating all nine elements of fitness. It helps to build core

strength, increase flexibility and coordination, and provides all-over

body tone. And because it uses a person's own body weight rather than

the resistance of a machine, it results in leaner and more shapely

muscles.

Fitness is not the only bonus: pole dancing & fitness techniques also

boost confidence and self-esteem, and can help women feel sensually

empowered. And, above all, it's fun. Pole dancing fitness classes are

safe, supportive environments where laughter is encouraged, making them

as much a social event as an exercise class.

The R Pole was demonstrated across the UK during the recent six day

masterclass tour by Felix Cane, the Australian champion and the current

World Pole Sport and Fitness Champion 2009. Cane said: "The R Pole is

probably the best free standing pole available at the moment."
